Dehradun International Cricket Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in the Raipur area of Dehradun, Uttarakhand. It is the first international level stadium in the state. It was constructed by Shapoorji Pallonji Engineering and Construction. In November 2012, Chief Minister Uttarakhand of that time Vijay Bahuguna laid the foundation of the stadium. On 16 December 2016, Chief Minister Harish Rawat inaugurated the stadium along with Mr. Rajeev Shukla, Chairperson of IPL. The total cost of stadium is Rs. 237.20 Crore.
The swanky stadium is located amidst picturesque surroundings in Raipur area of Dehradun and has a seating capacity of 25,000 people along with flood lights facility for conducting day night matches. The seats inside the stadium have been arranged in such a manner that it gives a look of Aipan, a traditional Kumaoni art. The stadium is the first one of international standards in the state.
Uttarakhand already had organized some Ranji Matches but due to lack of facilities players are hesitant to come here. Now Uttarakhand has an international stadium, hope to see more international and Ranji matches here. The International stadium of the Uttarakhand State is now ready to host their 1st international match and people from all over the state are desperatly waiting to see their favorite player in action. According to a news, IPL Matches would also be played In Dehradun on 2018. And if it is true then it will be a proud moment for all Uttarakhand cricket lovers. There are many cricket fans in Uttarakhand who wanted to see their favorite player on their home ground.
The stadium has about more than thirty corporate sections. A lounge and restaurant add on to the list of facilities available for sports person at the newly built stadium. Next in line to add to the glory of The Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium is the clubhouse. The entire south spectator area with the most lavish and serene setting has been dedicated to The Club House. It has recreation facilities like bowling, billiard, and a well-equipped gymnasium. An auditorium with the seating capacity for hundred is also part of the clubhouse.
